Samurai taps into Japan's rich textile heritage once more with this 15oz blended warp selvedge. The weft incorporates Japanese washi paper—traditionally used to make hanshi calligraphy paper and shoji screens.

Washi paper is a traditional Japanese paper, handmade from the inner bark of mulberry and mitsumata plants. It's known for being thin yet remarkably strong, with a soft, fibrous texture and natural translucency. Washi has been produced for over a thousand years and is commonly used for calligraphy, art, bookbinding, crafts, and architectural elements such as shoji screens. Samurai take this historic handmade paper and spin it into yarns before incorporating it into the weft of their original 15oz selvedge denim. The cotton warp is another custom creation, made from extra-long staple fibres that offer a soft, silk-like hand. Together, the warp and weft create a beautifully textured denim that sits at the heavier end of the midweight spectrum without sacrificing comfort. Finished in Samurai's 310 fit: the widest in the brand's repertoire. The 310 gets you a mid-to-high rise with a generous top block and plenty of room all the way through the leg. Roomy, but not exaggerated in its bagginess.
